What the locals are saying about us: BCDCC
“Our aged care services are overworked as the Wingecarribee area has many aged care hostels and retirement villages, many live in outer isolated areas.
To them this service can be their only human contact in a week, many people do not drive and this assistance is most important to them. Staff drive hundreds of kilometeres a day to render these services.
I myself was a client safter returning from hospital having a complete hip replacement on New Years Eve, gratefully the owner herself came to assist me and help me settle in on my return home. Her services and those of her staff who attended me for four weeks were most professional, helpful and considerate and all had a very happy disposition. Service such as this is very difficult to find, and we are extremely lucky to have BCD Community Care and with such a professional attitude by ALL staff.
AS I have been a consumer representative for Consumer Health Forum for over 15 years I fully understand the problems of resources in rural areas.
I have chaired Illawarra Consumer Health Council and have been involved in local area and state committees as well as Colleges and many Federal Department Committees. With an ageing population, funding to groups such as BCDCC are needed for rural areas. Rural Health groups need encouragement and resources to fill the gaps in rural aged care.
To have such professional service such as BCDCC is a great asset to this area and all who are served by their staff members, it would be most distressing if they could not continue through lack of resources.”
